Story
Having both turned 50 in the last year, we have been training since January for the New Forest 70.3 Middle distance Triathlon - sometimes known as a half Ironman. We are raising money for an amazing Ugandan organisation called Musana which we have supported for a number of years. Musana uses seed funding to build outstanding schools, hospitals, women’s empowerment centres and enterprises which become self-sustaining by generating local income in Uganda. As well as becoming completely self-sustaining, local communities decide how to use surplus income to support the most vulnerable in their communities with free and subsidised healthcare, scholarship etc. It is an incredible model improving thousands of lives across Uganda and is just launching in Kenya and Tanzania too.
The triathlon is a massive challenge for us; 1.9km swim, 90km cycle and finishing with a 21km half marathon run. We hope we can do it despite a couple of injury challenges - hence the late publicising of this! However, if one or both of us fail to finish due to injury or are ‘timed out’ we will come back to complete it next year!
We would be incredibly grateful for any support which will help us to endure and hopefully get us around the course!
