I have got back into running over the past year, and I am going to test my running legs by running half marathon. It has been a while since I have done one, and now I am in my 4th decade I'm sure it will be harder than ever before!

I am running for Pancreatic Cancer Action as the father, of one of my best friends has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Larry Foster has always been around in my life - as I spent many of my childhood years in their family home. And most recently seeing him look so well his daughter's wedding in April of 2024. Sadly we now know that the cancer had already taken hold, although we didn't know that then.

I have never been under any allusion that pancreatic cancer was an 'easy' cancer to manage - all cancers take such a emotional and physical toll on all of those who are affected as well as all those around them, but pancreatic cancer, often due to its late diagnosis is truly exceptionally challenging to treat.

As pancreatic cancer is so often diagnosed late, the survival rates over 5 years are not great. Support for Pancreatic Cancer Action will mean that raising awareness of the symptoms, to enable life saving treatment will actively affect future individuals and their families.

Pancreatic cancer is the 5th biggest cancer killer and the 10th most common cancer in the UK. So without being morbid - all of us will most likely come into contact with it at some point.

Any support you can provide, to help me mentally get round 13.1miles, but more importantly try and raise awareness of the symptoms to ensure early diagnosis and enable life-saving treatment, would be so gratefully appreciated.
