Story

This page is dedicated to the memory of Jenny Colwell who very sadly died in the 8th September after a long illness aged 55.

Jenny was a beautiful, courageous, inspirational, compassionate and very loving person. She would never complain or feel sorry for herself. People loved her. She would light up a room with her presence.

Jenny was born in Bradford and lived her whole life within a 3 mile radius of her child hood home. She enjoyed holidays but her favourite place was ,home curled up with her favourite cat. She loved to cook and entertain. She loved to party and her favourite drink was white wine and on special occasions a glass of champagne. She preferred pop and dance music and the song she played the most was ‘Dance Monkey’ by Toni and I.

Jenny loved to read. Mostly popular fiction. She could read a book in two days or less and always had new books lined up and waiting. She enjoyed telly and was an avid ‘Corrie’ fan.

Jenny loved the great outdoors and keeping active. She was a member of the local running club and ran in many 10k charity races both locally and abroad.

She also enjoyed horse riding and spin and aqua classes at the local gym. Her favourite past time was walking in the Lake District and the coast line around Whitby. She was a keen bird watcher and a member of the RSPB. Her favourite birds were puffins.

Jenny was fiercely loyal to her friends and family. She worked very hard to keep all of those relationships going. She was very forgiving and a peacemaker but could dish out ‘tough love ‘ when required. She never forgot a birthday or special event.

Jenny loved work and worked mostly in Leeds. She enjoyed the challenges it presented and the great many friends she made there. She spent 18 years working for BT/O2 and the remainder of her career at Ventura which became Capita.

Jenny will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She spent her final hours in the care of the wonderful staff at the Bradford Marie Curie hospice. She died peacefully, with family at her side.

Marie Curie is a wonderful organisation. In memory of Jenny please give generously.

The Marie Curie Bradford Hospice supports people living with a terminal illness and those closest to them to live as well as possible.
