Story
I'm taking part in a 25-themed challenge for Autism Early Support as they celebrate 25 years of making a difference.
I've worked for Autism Early Support for several years now. It is a very special place, and you meet some amazing families and colleagues. A few years ago, one nursery family had 2 boys that I was privileged to work with; the mum made creative crochet animals for her boys. I have no idea where she found the time!!! On the last day of the summer term, when her youngest son was leaving circle centre, she made the staff crochet keyrings. Butterflies, which I still use and is well-loved.
So for the 25 challenge, I am going to attempt to crochet 25 items in 25 days in June. For all those awesome families who find rest and joy in crafts or being creative.
I am very busy and have a heavy work schedule, so I am thinking that I'll either be making butterflies or star bag charms if its a very busy day, bookmarks for a brisk day and if there is a quiet day, mini bags. I think it will be very interesting to see how many I make of each 🙂 These will then be sold at Autism Early Support events.
Autism Early Support is a children's charity that provides specialist education and support to young autistic children and those with communication, interaction and sensory differences.
Over the last 25 years, Autism Early Support have worked directly with over 900 children. That's literally thousands of hours of specialist support. In that time, the charity have been able to expand their reach, develop their work, and maintain the highest standards, including a 5-time 'Outstanding' rating by Ofsted.
From their very first steps in the nursery back in 2001, to all the lives touched today, every achievement has been made possible by people like you and me. By taking part in my challenge, I hope to make an even greater difference for children's futures.
