Right now, millions of children are in danger. They face violence, disease, hunger and the chaos of war and disaster. Unicef ensures more children get life-saving food, vaccinations, education and protection than anyone else. With your help, we can build a safer world for children. unicef.org.uk

Story

Update: walk complete! The children have been absolutely amazed and delighted by what they have raised, the sponsorship and messages of support have been such an important part of their motivation - THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!

Otto (11) and Arwen (8) are planning to walk all 62 miles of The St Cuthbert's Way and raise money to support UNICEF's Children of Sudan along the way. Any amount of sponsorship will be very gratefully received, as will any motivational messages!

Since April 2023, civil war has raged in Sudan. It has triggered the world’s largest displacement crisis, with more than 7 million children displaced. What began as a fight for control of the capital Khartoum spread across the country, igniting ethnic violence and relentless attacks on hospitals, schools, and water and power supplies.

Families have fled repeatedly, seeking safety in overcrowded camps and makeshift shelters. Millions lack access to food, clean water, healthcare, and education. Most hospitals and health centres are destroyed or overwhelmed. There are repeated outbreaks of cholera, malaria, and dengue. 24 million people are food insecure, as the conflict has destroyed livelihoods, devastated agriculture, caused food prices to soar, and blocked aid.

With supplies and living conditions rapidly declining, UNICEF needs our help to reach more children and families.

Please donate what you can. Thank you.
