Story
Jenny is raising funds for Dorset Historic Churches Trust through Ride and Stride 2023, cycling for the White Hart Vale churches in the Three Valleys Benefice.
Ride + Stride is an annual event through which those in the many benefices and parishes across Dorset raise money for Dorset Historic Churches Trust (DHCT) and our own churches, by cycling, walking or riding between any number of our beautiful churches
DHCT uses half the money raised (a fantastic £87,000 was raised in 2022) to fund vital repairs to roofs and fabric, while the other half is returned to our participating churches to help with maintenance. DHCT also grant aid for the provision of facilities such as kitchenettes and lavatories in churches, so these churches can become more flexible for use throughout the week for community activities.
Please do support us.
Jenny says:
I am a steady cyclist, but I hope to get around all 17 churches in the 16 parishes of the Three Valleys Benefice on September 9th 2023 ! Our Benefice straddles West and North Dorset in an extensive network of country lanes, and I aim to begin early on the day, so I may finish by 7.00pm, the time of this year's concert in Holwell Church on the same evening! I am hoping to stop off at the St Mary’s Bradford Abbas event, The Church That Rocks, on the way (perhaps for an ice-cream)! The churches of the Three Valleys Benefice are set in extraordinarily beautiful rural landscape, but there are some extreme hilly patches to navigate! Thank you for supporting DHCT, and the churches of the Benefice. As the DHCT ask us to specify churches, I have noted the White Hart Vale in the Benefice (Holwell), with the vale being Bishops Caundle, Caundle Marsh, Folke, Glanvilles Wootton, Holnest, Holwell and Pulham. All in One. Three valleys in One! Thank you so much for your support! It is great to see teams and individuals cycling also from Chetnole, Leigh and Yetminster.
