Charity Background:
Catalyst Foundation is part of the Catalyst Care Group house of brands and is an independent charity registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales (Registered Charity Number: 1193385).
Its S.H.E Programme focuses on empowering girl-child education across Africa, by removing the barriers that vulnerable girls in particular face when accessing education.
Across Africa, 32.6 million primary and lower secondary school girls are out of school. This number rises to 52 million when looking at girls of upper secondary school age.
As a result of not going to school, girls may become victims of: - child abuse, child rape, early child marriages/pregnancies, HIV/AIDS, and the list goes on.This is where the Catalyst Foundation comes in and tries to bridge this gap, as they believe every girl-child has the right to an education!
S.H.E.Camp Background:
Every year, Catalyst Foundation holds its S.H.E Camp either during the August/December school holidays, which is always looked forward to by their beneficiaries tremendously.
The aim of holding these Camps is to encourage, educate, and empower all beneficiaries, through various activities such as mentorship, teamwork, creativity, and reimagining possibilities.
So far, two Camps have been held, and the impact created throughout has been amazing – they see their girls arriving at Camp really shy, and by the time the Camp has concluded, they will have all transformed into confident, young girls – full of fire and ready to take this energy back to school for the start of the new term.
The S.H.E. Camp's programme will assist all beneficiaries in the following areas:
- With mental stimulation and physical activity.
- To find camaraderie in peers going through similar struggles.
- Reinforce independence and empowerment through the tailored Camp programme.
- Allow confidence to be reinforced by success, as the Foundation will award deserving beneficiaries prizes and medals.
- Promoting creativity in an environment free from judgment, building all-around resilience.
- Instilling appreciation and gratitude, moulding humility, and modeling behaviour.
