Story
I’m raising money for the Breast clinic at musgrove park hospital,
We have the best team here and I felt well and truly looked after. I’d like to give a special thank you to my surgeon Amanda Thorne who did the most incredible job, to the ladies that all looked after me and the lifelong friends I’ve made. Most of you know my story now after getting breast cancer, have a double masectomy then having this incredible tattoo over the top of the scars not to hide then but show where I fell and rose up. But what you don’t see is that for 7 years I’ve struggled to look in a mirror at myself undressed it’s like this dark cloud was just lingering over everytime I went near a mirror. Cancer doesn’t just take parts of your body it tries to take you too. I’ve got so much more confidence with my body as you will see! I don’t hideaway anymore I love my body again I ran a Parkrun topless with a different breast surgeon just 4 weeks ago and I felt amazing, the support and love has been phenomenal and continues to be I’ve now ran 3 Parkruns like this and it’s just absolutely incredible! I’ve had 2 ladies already reach out to me one of which I now talk to mega are just starting their journey. I want to show anyone affected by breast cancer a bit of hope a chance to go through the tunnel knowing there will be a light it may take a while but it’s there. I want to show them you can and you’ve got this. I want to help others as much as I can to raise awareness and get checked early it’s absolutely vital this gives them the best possible chance.
Taunton half marathon has a special place! After having my first masectomy surgery I asked my oncologist if I could run/walk it she said I can’t answer that as no had asked this before. The answer was yes! I ran it with my son 2 weeks after surgery with my picc line in ( a tube that sits just by your heart from chemo infusions) it saves your veins and means you don’t have to go through having a needle everytime they need blood or chemo etc…
Please help me raise funds for my local clinic no matter how small of a donation. It all helps.

Each year the Hospital treats over 450,000 patients through its emergency department, on its wards and through its outpatient services. Although the Hospital is funded by the NHS, it is vital that we raise additional funds to improve our services, purchase new equipment and continue to provide a positive environment for both patients and their families. Donations made in support of Love Musgrove have a real and tangible impact on the people of Somerset and beyond!
