As a new attorney, I joined First Call's Emerging Professionals Board earlier this year, driven by the mission to raise awareness, end stigma, and provide resources for education, prevention, harm reduction, treatment, and recovery. The impact of substance use disorder is far-reaching; for every person affected, 10 more are impacted. Alcohol and drug misuse has impacted my life personally as well as my family and friends, and I am acutely aware of its prevalence in the legal profession.
