Story
Hello Everyone :) How are you?
In November, my brother James and I are taking on a firewalk. My incredible brother, who is autistic, last year faced a shock diagnosis of Guillain-Barré Syndrome with extraordinary courage.
James and I have always been each other’s support through life. At times, it has just been the two of us, facing challenges together, and we have always found strength in one another. His journey led me to Autism Anglia, whose guidance and support have been invaluable, helping me find the understanding and resources I needed to support him through the most challenging period of our lives we have ever faced.
To James, Watching you navigate life’s challenges has changed me profoundly. There were moments of fear, exhaustion, and uncertainty. Through it all, your resilience, courage, and determination has been nothing short of astounding. You have inspired me in ways I could never fully put into words, and you continue to remind me of the power of love, hope, and perseverance. I thought we knew each other inside and out, but being with you in hospital last year, I saw yet another layer of strength in you.
Autism Anglia has been there for us every step of the way, giving me the tools to support James and helping our family find strength when it felt like there was none left. This firewalk is my way of giving something back — to thank them for the difference they have made, and to help ensure their support reaches more autistic people and their families across East Anglia.
This firewalk is just the beginning. Next year, I will be climbing Snowdon in honour of James and Autism Anglia, continuing to challenge myself to raise awareness and funds for this incredible charity. Every step I take, whether across fire or up a mountain, is for James and for everyone whose lives are touched by autism.
Please consider supporting me by donating to Autism Anglia. Your generosity will help provide care, guidance, and hope to families who need it most — just as they have for us.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support.
Jenn and James x
