Story
Our little music and movement group will be walking 5 miles in order to raise awareness of a a severe but treatable mental illness that can develop after childbirth - Postpartum psychosis.
1 in 5 mothers develop some form of mental illness after birth - which is why we have chosen 5 miles. (also, realistic with toddlers/buggies in tow!) Whilst the little ones may not strictly be walking the whole 5 miles, they will be toddling for part of it.
A little about the charity - Action on Postpartum Psychosis (APP) is a UK charity. They're here to make sure mums, parents and families are supported through postpartum psychosis – a severe, but treatable, form of mental illness that occurs after having a baby and affects 1400 new mums in the UK each year.
They offer information and peer support, facilitate ground breaking research, raise awareness and campaign for improved services.
A life changing peer support network helps women and families affected by postpartum psychosis feel understood, supported and less isolated.
This spring. the charity campaigns for information about postpartum psychosis to be shared at EVERY antenatal class in the UK.
