Story
That thing when you turn 40, 'friends' suggest something that seems like a good idea at the time, then you find yourself committed.....
The last time I completed a half-marathon was 20-odd years ago in Plymouth, when I was a student and much younger and fitter!
I've chosen to attempt this challenge, raising money for Sew Positive.
Sew Positive is a unique UK charity building communities of like-minded people who face social exclusion. We work with them to mend, repair, upcycle and repurpose clothes to calm the mind, improve mental health and well-being, and help our planet. Our activities contribute towards a more sustainable and climate-positive approach to textile waste.
Working in primary care, I see daily the impact of social isolation in the local community and the health issues this causes. Anything that can help change this is a cause worth supporting.
I'm also a keen sewer, and I love the idea of bringing sewing to people who might not have had the opportunity before, whilst addressing textile waste and addressing mental health difficulties.
Sew Positive is a tiny charity where small amounts of money can make a big difference - I'm grateful for anything you can donate.
Thx,
Jenny
