Story
I'm living with the long term effects of a stroke, it has affected my eyesight, left me with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and a whole list of undiagnosed problems.
In 2025 when this happened, I thought my life as I knew it was over, but with help, I built back. Running became an essential part of my recovery, and in May 2026 I ran the Great Manchester 10k to raise money for Henshaws, a charity that have been at my side every step of the way, and a charity who are now very close to my heart.

It didn't end there. In the months that followed, the effects of radiosurgery knocked me further back than I've ever been before. I've been through hard times, I've wanted to give up. I've sat crying in the Henshaws office feeling like I can't cope.

Throughout these hard times, Henshaws have continued to support me with my sight difficulties, without question. Now I'm over my worst and recovering for a second time, I want to continue to support them, and I'm taking on my ultimate challenge - the 2027 London Marathon.
Every step of the way where I've needed support, Henshaws have been there for me without question, and I've witnessed how they're there for others.
I've been building back up. Since Manchester I've ran another 3 10ks, accidentally ran a Half Marathon (I was the slowest person there, I love me for that!)

This winter I am giving training everything I have. The London Marathon isn't just a few hours of running on a Sunday in April - it's dedicating an entire winter to prepare, putting in the hours, putting in the miles, while juggling my health conditions.
I am under no illusion, this is going to be hard - but the cause is worth it. It was never in doubt that if I ever ran a marathon, it would be for Henshaws, and here I am!
So please, I would love it if you'd support me in my biggest challenge to date. My body says that this should not be possible, I am not a stereotypical runner... but I say the same to my body that I have done for the last 2 years - you're not going to stop me!
Thank you ❤️
My story up to the Great Manchester Run is here, it's time to make a part 2!
