Story

Hi all,

Some of you will know that in 2025 a close friend, Jim, very sadly took his own life. He was someone deeply loved by everyone, and his loss has stayed with many of us.

In his memory, a group of us are running together to raise money for PAPYRUS, the UK charity dedicated to the prevention of young suicide. A cause that feels painfully close to home for us and I'm sure many of you who have been affected by suicide.

PAPYRUS offers confidential support and advice to young people experiencing suicidal thoughts, as well as to anyone worried about a friend through their helpline HOPELINE247. They also work to raise awareness and train people to recognise and respond when someone is in crisis.

Suicide is the leading cause of death among people under 35 in the UK, with more than 1,800 young people lose their lives in this way each year. Behind every number is a person, a family, and a group of friends left trying to make sense of something that feels impossible to understand.

Life can be overwhelming, and reaching out for help isn't always easy and is often the most difficult step. Organisations like PAPYRUS exist to make sure someone is there at the moment it's needed most.

Any donations, large or small or even just words of support, would be hugely appreciated and will make a real difference.

Importantly, beyond raising awareness, this run is also a chance for us to come together, have a laugh, maybe drink a pint at the end? and remember Jim while doing something positive in his name.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for any support you're able to give.
