Story

Jeremy Cashmore is raising money for PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide

Just a quick note to thank you for supporting me, and Papyrus, on my ride. The generosity of friends and colleagues has been humbling, and you have my heartfelt thanks.

The ride itself turned out to be as much of a mental challenge as a physical one (heavy legs and saddle sores notwithstanding) and your messages of support provided a real lift in my spirits.

My elderly father keeps asking if it was televised and I think we can be grateful that it wasn’t, but the memories created will live long, together with the satisfaction from a job well done.

Apologies this is a group message, but thank you all once again.

"This is a 1,020 mile challenge starting at Land’s End in Cornwall and cycling up the country to John O Groats in Scotland. It’ll take 14 days, with an average ride of 73 miles per day. I'm cycling with a friend who suffered a stroke at the age of 50 and was forced to give up work. This made us both realise that these challenges shouldn’t be delayed, as you never know what’s around the corner. Despite my advancing years, an obvious absence of talent and a dodgy back, I’m hitting the road. I’m expecting some highs and plenty of lows (I ready have saddle sores and it’s not even started), hoping that anything raised to support the good people at Papyrus will keep me rolling!"

PAPYRUS is the national charity for the Prevention of Young Suicide.

Suicide is the biggest killer of young people under the age of 35 in the UK, every year over 1800 young people take their own lives. PAPYRUS provides confidential support and advice to young people struggling with thoughts of suicide, and anyone worried about a young person through their helpline, HOPELINE247.

Every £15 raised can contribute towards a life-saving contact to HOPELINE247. Your donations really are changing lives, thank you.
