I am ready, with your help, to take the challenge and cycle 500km to Paris in 4 days to raise money for cancer research for Multiple Myeloma. You may not have heard of this bone marrow cancer but apparently 16 people are diagnosed with this every day in the UK. Unlike many other cancers this one has no cure yet. So raising money for research and care is crucial and will make a difference.
The ride will take place between September 7 - 11th 2023. As I have been without my bike for the summer I have been jogging instead for my training and hope the physical strain will be similar. Either way thank you for watching me go all the way and helping raise my target of £5,000 for research and care. I have a couple of physical hurdles to surmount not least my knees which tend to jam up after about 2 hours of cycling !
Myeloma UK are doing great and essential work, non government funded, in supporting research and lobbying for new treatments to be adopted. I believe there will be a cure within 10 years. In the meantime sufferers have to go through chemotherapy and stem cell transplants and hope to respond to treatment until a relapse, and then they go again ... if they can and their body can withstand it all ...
There are so many worthy causes and funds are tight at the minute. However, any cash that you can spare will be greatly appreciated. I also often do things for sponsorship, from supporting Ukrainian children to helping various cancer associations, so whilst I'll share my page, there is of course no obligation to donate and no expectation from me. But I wouldn't be a true fundraiser, seeking to better the world, if I didn't at least try :).
Remember to check your health regularly, all cancers are much easier to deal with when diagnosed early. I regret having lost two friends to other cancers in the last two years already ... be aware and stay healthy.
