Story
In September 2025, Steff, Tom and I and a group of close friends will be taking on one of the most demanding physical challenges of our lives; walking the Chemin de la Liberté – a historic escape route that runs from France to Spain, across the rugged Pyrenees. Used during World War II by refugees and Allied servicemen fleeing Nazi-occupied France, this trek is not only a journey through breathtaking, mountainous terrain but also one steeped in history, courage and resilience.
At 61 years old, this won’t be easy, especially when we hit the higher altitudes where the terrain gets tougher and the air thinner but I’m determined to push myself because I’m walking for something far greater than the personal challenge alone.
I’m doing this in support of a brilliant UK-based charity: Lincs2Nepal.
Lincs2Nepal is a small but deeply impactful charity that supports underprivileged children and their families in Nepal, particularly those from lower caste backgrounds. In a country where poverty and inequality can severely limit a child’s future, Lincs2Nepal works closely with local communities and a dedicated school to provide education, opportunity, and hope.
Their work literally changes lives from funding school places and uniforms to improving sanitation, supporting families and giving children the tools they need to break free from the cycle of poverty.
Every penny raised through this fundraiser will go directly to supporting these children, opening doors that would otherwise remain closed.
Your support would be greatly appreciated, whether that’s a small donation or simply sharing this page with friends and family. Whatever you can give will make a genuine difference.
Thank you so much for reading and thank you even more if you choose to donate.
Here’s to pushing boundaries, remembering history, and walking for something that truly matters.
