Story
I am running for Caring Minds, the charity of Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust. I've had a tricky time personally recently and I've become even more aware of how closely linked physical and emotional wellbeing are. I came back to work in the NHS this January, after being made redundant. I had previously had a year off sick and being physically active in nature was essential in helping me process my grief and emotional challenges. Walking and wild swimming were my go to spaces to have time for myself, and garden projects were important quality time with my husband.
When I started work again, I started running to keep my physical activity levels up. The opportunity to run for Caring Minds has helped me to turn a weekly Park Run into training for this half marathon. And with your support we could bring the enormous benefits of physical activity and nature to others who are struggling with emotional challenges.
We want to build on the success of a Green Gym at the Juniper Centre in Moseley. Outdoor gym equipment in other green spaces around the facilities in Birmingham and Solihull would be brilliant, so people can connect with nature, with their body and with others.
Your donation, no matter the amount, will make a difference in supporting the incredible work of Caring Minds. Thank you for your generosity and support.
