My Mum told me 'Live life big, enjoy your youth, do some crazy stuff, but most of all, be happy'.

As I approach the big 3-0, this message has been especially close to my heart and I've really been trying to make the most of the last year of my 20s and do those crazy, fun things that would make my mum proud.

So, spurred on by my colleagues, Jess and Phil and my fiance, Alex, I've signed up for a half marathon and for someone whose running career peaked at a 5k Race for Life (most of which I walked), this is pretty crazy!

But this is more than just a personal challenge before I turn 30, it's an opportunity to raise money for a cause which is incredibly close to my heart - Dove House Hospice - the place which provided end of life care for my Mum after an eight year battle with cancer.

I'm a proud Ambassador for the hospice and can't speak highly enough of the difference the team at the hospice made to our family at one of the hardest times.

The hospice relies on donations to continue its work, which not only includes end of life care, but also extends to support for friends and family, and services to improve the quality of life of patients with life limiting illnesses.

Team MMC (& Alex) will be taking on the Beverley Half Marathon on August 23rd and any donations to Dove House will be greatly appreciated!
