Story
Thanks for dropping by. You will have seen that I am 'Swimming The Channel!' Ok, not exactly tackling The English Channel, but the straight line distance of 32km... in a 25m swimming pool.
1,280 lengths and I have given myself three months to do it because it's a really long way.
I am always had a romantic notion to swim the Channel. There is a family story that my Grandma swam the English Channel, although I can find no record of that. The reality of such a challenge is far from romantic and takes bravery, guts, dedication and determination. My Grandma had these qualities in spades which she demonstrated in her own successful fight against cancer (even if the legend of her Channel Swim is a myth.)
1 in 2 of us will face cancer in our lives. It is a terrifying statistic but amazing work is being done in the field of research every day that improves outcomes both now and in the future.
Please support me as I swim; it's my way of giving back and your donations will motivate me over the 3 months. I started this wee challenge on the 1st of August and there will be updates as I swim 'across'. Let's do this!
Donations will all go to Cancer Research UK.
Thank you, Jess
