Popham is an incredible charity that has supported our dad, Kev Carsley, throughout his journey with end-stage kidney failure.

Three times a week, Dad attends dialysis treatment—a life-saving routine that keeps him going while he waits for the call that could change his life: a kidney transplant.

On 21st May, just after midnight, that call finally came. We were overjoyed and full of hope. Sadly, just 24 hours later, only minutes before the transplant was due to take place, the transplant team had to make the heartbreaking decision to cancel the operation after discovering the donated kidney was no longer viable.

Experiencing this journey firsthand has shown us just how invaluable Popham's support is—not only for Dad, but for our whole family.

To say thank you and help ensure other families receive the same support, we've come together to raise money for this amazing charity. Jess and her husband, Matthew, along with her brother James and his partner Nina, will be taking on the Cardiff Half Marathon this October.

For us, this is about so much more than running 13.1 miles. It's our opportunity to give back to a charity that has stood beside our family through some of our most difficult moments. Every donation, no matter the size, will help Popham continue supporting people living with kidney disease and their loved ones.

Popham Kidney Support is a registered charity dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by kidney disease across Wales, along with their families and carers.

Our aim is simple — to help people living with kidney disease lead a better quality of life.

A kidney disease diagnosis can be life-changing, bringing emotional, physical, and financial challenges. Many people feel overwhelmed as they adjust to treatment and daily life.

We exist to make that journey easier.

We provide emotional and practical support through peer support, counselling, financial assistance, wellbeing initiatives, and education. We also work with partners to improve services for the kidney community.

Every fundraising effort helps us reach more people in need and continue delivering vital support across Wales. Your support ensures that no one faces kidney disease alone.
