Jess & Brett’s fundraiser for Teenage Cancer Trust

Jess Jones is raising money for Teenage Cancer Trust
In memory of Connor Fleming

Edinburgh Marathon 2026 · 24 May 2026 ·

We are dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young cancer patients aged 13-24. We fund and build specialist units in NHS hospitals and provide dedicated staff, bringing young people together so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts in the best place for them.

Story

Our childhood friend, Connor Fleming, passed away in April 2023 after a courageous four-year battle with cancer. He was just 28 years old, having been diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma at the age of 24.

Despite everything he faced, Connor remained an inspiration to everyone around him. He continued playing the sports he loved while undergoing chemotherapy, even scoring his first cricket century during that incredibly tough period—an achievement that perfectly captured his spirit, determination, and love for life.

We have signed up for the Edinburgh Marathon in honour of our great friend, whose memory continues to inspire us every day.

This won’t be easy. Injuries, surgeries, and the years catching up with us present real challenges—but that’s exactly why this journey matters. We’re determined to put in the work and cross that finish line with a time we can be proud of.

We’re taking on this marathon to raise vital funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust, to inspire others, and to keep our friend’s legacy alive through continued fundraising. We miss him deeply, and this is our way of carrying his spirit forward.

Connor’s parents, our cricketing pals, and our local community have always been right behind us, and we’re hugely grateful for every bit of support. Any donation—big or small—means the world to us and will make a real difference.

Everyday, seven young people aged 13-24 hear the words “you have cancer”.

Connor received exceptional support from the Teenage Cancer Trust team at Nottingham City Hospital, especially from the staff on the Hogarth Ward Teenage Cancer Trust Unit. This amazing charity is not funded by the NHS. Every donation made in Connor’s name will help ensure these vital services continue, supporting young people and families who are facing the hardest moments of their lives.

Thank you for helping us make this run count. 🧡🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️

Thank you for your support!
