Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

We have chosen to support this charity for the vital role that our CFRs play across the South West, especially in remote areas such as the Isles of Scilly, where we both live and work. These staff members give up their time voluntarily to support their community 24/7.

The South Western Ambulance Service Charity (SWAC) provides support for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) through various charitable initiatives, including funding for equipment, staff and volunteer well-being, and community-based programs like defibrillator placement and training. It also supports Community First Responders.

Specifically, SWAC provides:

Funding for defibrillator placement, maintenance, and training:

This includes initiatives to increase public access to defibrillators and enhance community preparedness for cardiac emergencies.

Support for Community First Responders:

This includes providing training, equipment, and support for volunteers who respond to emergencies in their local communities.

Funding for staff and volunteer well-being:

SWAC aims to improve the overall well-being of staff and volunteers within the ambulance service.

Enhanced equipment and resources:

SWAC provides resources and equipment beyond what is typically provided by the NHS Trust, such as specialised medical equipment for Community First Responders.

Community education and awareness:

SWAC works to educate the public on how to recognise cardiac arrest, how to respond, and how to utilise public access defibrillators.

In essence, SWAC works to improve patient care and outcomes, enhance the capabilities of the ambulance service, and build community resilience in the face of medical emergencies.
