Story
After over a decade in the ballot I was lucky enough to get a London Marathon place this year and I'm so excited to take part.
I've decided to use this opportunity to raise some much-needed funds for Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP). Like many people I've been horrified by what's been happening in Palestine over the last 15+ months (as well as many decades before that). I've also seen the strength, dignity, and resistance of the Palestinian people living through unimaginable horrors which are still ongoing on a daily basis.
MAP's vision is a future where all Palestinians can access an effective, sustainable and locally-led system of healthcare, and the full realisation of their rights to health and dignity. Their programmes, designed and delivered by Palestinians, provide access to essential health services and build local knowledge and skills to address Palestinian health problems. In times of humanitarian emergency they can provide immediate medical aid to those in great need, while also developing local capacity and skills to ensure the long-term development of the Palestinian healthcare system.
It's just a silly little run really, but hopefully I can make a small impact for a people who are desperately asking the world for help right now.
