Why I’m Running the Transgavarres Ultramarathon
This November, I’ll be taking on the Transgavarres Trail Ultramarathon — a 50km race from the Costa Brava coast, across the Gavarres Mountains (with nearly 1,800m of elevation gain!), and finishing in the centre of Girona.
Running an ultramarathon has always been something I've wanted to do, but this year it carries a much deeper purpose. Last year, Stacey — a very dear family friend, second Mum to my younger sister, and a true light in our lives — was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive brain tumour. She has faced this fight with extraordinary courage, enduring gruelling treatment and difficult side effects. Through it all, The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity has been there, providing incredible care and support.
So this November, I’ll be running not just for myself, but for Stacey — to honour her strength, to raise awareness, and to help support the charity that has done so much for her and countless others.
If you’re able, please consider donating. Every contribution, big or small, will go directly to The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and make a difference in the lives of people facing the toughest battles imaginable.
Thank you so much for your support — and wish me luck on the trails!
