Story
At 16 I lost my rock, my best friend, my mum. Five years on, I’m running the London Marathon for Myton Hospice, to honour her memory and raise £5,000 in thanks for their incredible care!
Hi, I’m Jess, and in April 2026 I’ll be running the London Marathon in memory of my mum! 🥹
In March 2021, when I was 15, my mum was diagnosed with liver, lung and kidney cancer. Just two weeks later she was admitted to Coventry Myton Hospice, and on the 30th of March she sadly passed away. Losing her so suddenly was the hardest thing I’ve ever faced. At 16, I lost my rock, my best friend, the person whose hug could fix anything.
But during those final days, Myton Hospice gave my mum the dignity, peace and comfort she deserved — and gave us as a family the support we so desperately needed. Their staff were kind, welcoming, and made the unthinkable just that little bit more bearable. I will forever be grateful to them.
By the time I run the marathon, it will have been five years since I lost her. To honour her memory, I need to raise £5,000 for The Myton Hospices. They are a charity, not part of the NHS, and with only 17% of their funding coming from the NHS, they rely on donations to provide their incredible care free of charge.
Please help me support this amazing charity so they can continue to be there for families like mine when they need it most. Every donation, big or small, will make a difference.
Thank you so much 💕
– Jess xx
