We’re Jess and Dave, two staff members from Acorn Fostering — a small, independent fostering agency based in Leicester.

This year we’re challenging ourselves to walk 20 miles in what we’re calling “Jess & Dave’s Mighty Miles” — all in support of the incredible Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People. 🌈💛

Date: 28th July starting at 09:30am

Location: Bradgate Country Park & surrounding areas

That means foster parents, children, families, friends, staff, and anyone interested in fostering — you are ALL welcome to walk a few miles alongside us. Let’s celebrate the amazing fostering community together while raising awareness for two incredibly important causes.

Rainbows is the only children’s hospice in the East Midlands and offers vital care, comfort, and support to children and young people with life‑limiting conditions. They bring light, colour and joy to families who need it most — and every penny raised helps them continue their remarkable work. 🌈

Alongside raising funds for Rainbows, we want to shine a spotlight on something close to our hearts:

✅ The urgent national need for more foster carers.

Across the UK, more children are coming into care than ever before — and the number of foster carers is decreasing. Many children wait too long for the right placement, and many siblings are separated due to lack of available carers.

We want our walk to help raise awareness, encourage conversations, and inspire people to consider fostering.

We are a small, independent, Leicester‑based fostering agency with a genuinely supportive and welcoming team. At Acorn, foster parents are valued, respected, and cared for — because when carers feel supported, children thrive.

We offer high‑quality support, training, and 24/7 guidance to all our foster carers.
