Story
Hello hello!
As some of you may already know, I work for an amazing charity called Zetetick Housing (don’t worry, it took me a few attempts to pronounce it properly too).
Zuh Tet Tick is a supported housing charity whose mission is to transform the lives of adults with learning disabilities and autism by creating and sustaining safe and secure housing.
Housing, I believe, is the foundation of all independence. It’s where confidence and community have the space to grow and be nurtured, and I feel really proud to work for and support such a valuable cause that puts real people at the heart of everything we do.
We may be in the business of housing, but really, our work doesn’t stop there. We believe that in order to truly transform lives, we have to go further than that. It’s about creating a sense of belonging, helping people feel seen and valued. Right now, there are people in our communities who simply slip through the net. There are countless individuals stuck in hospitals, temporary accommodation, or living in places that just aren’t suitable for their needs, and that’s where Zetetick comes in.
We don’t just find properties, we maintain them, sustain them, and turn empty houses into real homes. Honestly, it’s a job worth getting up for every day.
This year I’ll be taking part in Zetetick’s Hike4Homes challenge (and your girl is not a hiker, so it really will be a challenge). Every penny raised will go towards essential things like paint, furnishings, bespoke furniture, community events, and all the little things many of us take for granted in everyday life.
With learning disabilities being a part of my own family, this feels more important to me than ever. I just want to do my bit to support this fantastic community and help people live with the dignity, independence and joy they deserve.
So dig deep, lads, at the very least, why don’t you just donate the price of a pint?
Cheers, (quite literally)
