Runners representing Able Child Africa for the London Marathon will help us play a key role in supporting local partners to protect, educate and empower children with disabilities so they are able to fulfil their potential.

Story

I am so excited to be running the TCS London Marathon in 2024, representing Able Child Africa.

Most of you probably know I love running, but few know that my 6-year-old son is on the Autism Spectrum. So, this marathon is a personal one, a way give back and bring awareness and support to a demographic that is often overlooked and disregarded as an “other.”

If you can find it in your heart, please consider contributing to my campaign to help me raise funds for such an important cause. Your kindness and generosity is greatly appreciated, and no amount is to small.

Below is the story about Juliet, a 13-year-old girl from Tanzania who suffers from hydrocephalus. Her story captured my heart because my mom also suffers from hydrocephalus and needed a VP shunt to save her life after suffering a hemorrhagic stroke last year.

“This year, we captured the story of Juliet - a bright, bubbly, confident thirteen-year-old from Tanzania. She also has hydrocephalus, and low vision. The journey Juliet's family have been on to understand how to better support their daughter, is one shared by many parents of children with disabilities across Africa. But thanks to the support of Able Child Africa and our partner Child Support Tanzania, Juliet is now empowered to fulfil her potential.

But we want to support more children. To do this, we need your help. The contributions you make allow us to continue to advocate for the rights of children with disabilities like Juliet, and importantly, support the growth of partner organisations in the countries where we work.”
