Story
Thanks for visiting my page.
I'm taking part in the London Landmarks Half Marathon 2025 to support Barts Charity.
In 2023 I noticed I had a lump on the right hand side of my neck. After some investigation, I was told there was a possibility I had thyroid cancer and I needed the right side of my thyroid removed. I was quickly booked in for surgery at Whipps Cross Hospital and after a couple of weeks I was on the road to recovery. After my operation, I was told that the lump in my neck had been cancerous but the surgery had been completely successful and I didn't need any further treatment. To be diagnosed and "cured" of cancer on the same day was a surreal feeling but I was so grateful to the doctors and nurses at Whipps Cross for the care I received.
Major surgery is always traumatic and there was a risk that the operation would permanently damage my vocal chords. I am in awe of the expertise of my surgeon and the time he took to explain my diagnosis and reassure me that I was cured. While I was recovering from surgery, the nurses on my ward were unbelievably kind. Not least in their efficient and timely delivery of pain killers!
I'd like to give back to Barts Charity. They bring brilliant ideas, ground-breaking research and transformational healthcare to life in East London.
Any support raised through this event means the people of East London benefit from life-changing research and innovative healthcare improvements.
Thank you.
