Story
Stephen, our dad was diagnosed in 2019 with Sarcoidosis. Sarcoidosis is a rare disease that causes tiny clumps of swollen immune cells, called granulomas, to form in different organs of the body. Our dad was diagnosed with initially sarcoidosis of the lungs, which then further affected his skin and eyes.
There is very limited information and awareness surrounding this disease. Like so many people living with sarcoidosis, he found himself facing a condition that was not always well understood, even within the medical community.
Due to the little information available, he had to become his own advocate. He spent countless hours researching his illness, learning everything he could about sarcoidosis and exploring different treatments and medications in the hope of finding something that would help him feel better.
His journey was one of determination and resilience. He continued searching for answers and trying different approaches, often navigating a condition that many people simply did not understand.
Our dad wanted to raise as much awareness to help others.
Sarcoidosis can affect people in very different ways, and there is still so much that researchers and doctors need to learn about the disease. Greater awareness, better understanding, improved treatments and, ultimately, a cure can only come through more research and funding.
In his memory, we would like to raise funds to support sarcoidosis research and help ensure that future patients do not face the same lack of information and understanding that daddy experienced.
