We're fundraising for the UK Sepsis Trust as our daughter was diagnosed with Sepsis in June 2025. She was 16 months old at the time. With the help of the paramedics, countless doctors, nurses, consultants and surgeons that has helped Madi along the way. She is now a resilient 2 and half year old that never fails to put a smile on anyone's face. By asking " Could It Be Sepsis?" and being aware of the symptoms and knowing what to look out for, could help the next person.

She was induced into a coma for 9 days and put on dialysis, and was told to prepare for the worse, as not only did she contract Sepsis from Invasive Group A Strep (think Tonsilitis or Strep throat but a bad case of it), she also contracted Toxic Shock Syndrome and a blood clotting disorder and her body was fighting the hardest it has ever done. One of her doctors told us when we got moved to the ward, it really is a miracle that she came out the other side, as the odds were against her.

Like with any serious battle with an illness, the body can take a hit. Madi’s body did, she ended up with a skin graft to the back of her head, a few fingers capped and sadly lost 8 of her toes. However, that hasn’t stopped her. She is now 2.5years old and keeps everybody on their feet and has everyone wrapped round her tiny fingers.

They say kids are resilient and it’s true to say they bounce back. She was lucky it was caught early.

It raises awareness, and sparks the question: “What is sepsis? In this way, fundraising can help prevent thousands of deaths & unnecessary suffering through knowledge & awareness of the symptoms.

It also funds our vital support work, Public Awareness, Educating Health Professionals & helping people adjust to life after sepsis through accessing our Support Group network. We also lobby government to support our cause and makes vital changes in areas such as the NHS.
