Domestic abuse is much more common than many people realise, often even the individual themselves doesn't realise they are in an abusive relationship until something very serious happens and they seek help.

South West Surrey Domestic Abuse Service provide support to survivors of domestic abuse through things like providing security checks and devices for the individual's home, delivering the Freedom Programme, counselling and providing art based therapy for children who have lived in a home where domestic abuse has been present.

It can also be hard for survivors to talk about what has happened to them, feelings of embarrassment and shame are common. The service has people individuals can talk to which help with these feelings.

I hope that I can raise some money to help support the important work that they do.

Due to injury and 'life crisis' my marathon training has been limited to only 8 weeks but I still plan to get to the finish line this time round :-)
