Jessica's London Marathon for The British Red Cross Society

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
I stumbled across an email from my Grandma, Jessie Nagel, just after her funeral last year. In this email I was instructed to run the London Marathon and being the former Mayor of Weymouth and Portland, when Grandma tells you to do something, you do it!
Jessie had a huge place in her heart for the British Red Cross and has fundraised for them throughout her career. There's too much to write but please see the link below for a snippet of her incredible life.

Having been given the opportunity to run the London Marathon at quite short notice (14 weeks!), this will be no mean feat but it is safe to say that the memories of this inspirational woman will help me push through as much as I can.
Whether it’s in the UK or abroad in Gaza, Lebanon, Sudan and Ukraine, it feels like the British Red Cross has never been needed more.
Through conflict, flooding or food shortages and fires, families and communities are facing unimaginable hardship.
No matter how difficult or dangerous things get, the British Red Cross is ready to face these challenges, bringing comfort and aid when all hope and humanity feels lost.
