Story
I’m not sure what I was thinking…
I was that kid who treated cross-country like a walking, talking social club. Turns out running long distances really is as exhausting as I always suspected. And while running playlists and copious quantities of pasta are decent perks, they don’t quite make up for the dodgy ligaments I last knew by name in 2003.
What does make it worth it, though, is raising money and awareness for a cause that really matters.
Miscarriage affects 1 in 4 pregnancies, and 1 in 2 women. Behind those statistics are real people navigating grief, self-blame, isolation, and lives left with aching gaps. The Miscarriage Association is there for them: offering support groups, advice lines, evidence-based information, and campaigning for vital change. Its ‘leave for every loss’ campaign has already secured changes to the Employment Rights Bill, ensuring bereavement leave for those experiencing pre-24-week losses.
This charity matters deeply to me. My own experiences of miscarriage span the professional, academic, and personal parts of my life, so it’s an honour to represent the Miscarriage Association as a trustee — and now as a very reluctant runner.
I’m matching donations — so please, be generous (at my peril!).
Thank you so much for supporting me, and more importantly, for supporting this brilliant cause.
