Story
This year, I’m running the half marathon in memory of my husband, Steven. It will marks seven years since he died at 35 yrs old, during this same race, just steps from the finish line. Running it again feels like the most meaningful way to honour him.
When Steven died, we had a beautiful toddler and I was seven months pregnant with our second daughter.
I’ve chosen to support Playful Mindset because of the impact they’ve had on my family. In 2024l, I found their outdoor, play-based grief group for kids—something I didn’t even know we needed until we were there. My girls immediately felt supported and understood.
What makes this charity even more special is the connection we discovered. The founder, Marnie, is also from Newfoundland, and after talking more, we realized she had actually run beside Steven that day. She stayed with him for over half the race and was right there when he died. It’s a connection I never expected, but one that means the world to me. I truly believe some people cross our paths for a reason.
As I run this race in Steven’s honour and support Playful Mindset, I’m asking for your help. Your donation will support grieving kids and families who need it—just like we did. Thank you for being part of this with me.
