Great South Run 2023 · 15 October 2023 ·

We are a group of patients, carers, doctors, and scientists who are all interested in patients with rare inherited anaemia. We want patients with rare inherited anaemias to be able to meet each other (virtually or in reality) and help and support each other. We want to give out reliable information about rare inherited anaemias and get your questions answered by doctors in the field. We want to raise money to fund research so we can better understand these conditions and improve the diagnosis and treatments available. We’re keen

Story

I’ll be running 10 miles to raise money for CAN. It’s a charity close to my heart. My 2.5 year old son has a rare blood disorder called Congenital Dyserythropoietic Anaemia Type 1. He was diagnosed during my pregnancy and received 4 blood transfusions before he was born. Between birth and 1 years old he received blood transfusions around every 4 weeks. He now has a weekly injection which helps keep his haemoglobin stable but it is unclear what the future will hold for him with this condition.

Hopefully the money raised will aid research into CDA and help support patients and families living with Congenital Anaemias
