Trigger warning: miscarriage and baby loss
Approximately 25% of all pregnancies sadly end in miscarriage. I was not aware of this fact, until it happened to me.
Only 2 days after finding out I was pregnant, I started to bleed on and off. What followed was the longest 3 weeks of our lives while anxiously waiting, with multiple ultrasounds, until it was confirmed that I had had a missed miscarriage. I proceeded to have medical management of my miscarriage, and at the time of writing this (11/8/24), am still having some intermittent bleeding and other lingering symptoms.
The whole process was, and still is, traumatic and utterly heartbreaking.
CRADLE is a wonderful small charity we were signposted to whilst we sat in the doctors office making decisions about how to manage our miscarriage. They offer toiletry packs for women who have just miscarried in hospital, as well as free online support groups with a trained councillor. As a couple, we have found these services invaluable, and I would love to raise money for them by running the Stevenage Marathon in order to offer these services to other people going through this awful experience.
So, if you are able to give anything towards this charity, please do - it would mean to world to both of us.
