Story

Powered by wine….we have convinced ourselves that climbing Snowdon at night is a perfectly reasonable thing to do in your mid-forties 🤣

LOROS has always been a special place for my family. They looked after my grandma Mavis in 1998 and then my uncle Rob years later. It was a charity that Gareth supported regularly and also became known as a ‘local hero’ for, when he flipped the ‘nek nominations’ of the early 2010s into a charity focussed donation.

For the past 12 years, Gareth hasn’t been here to raise money for LOROS, so I thought it was about time I did!!

I plied Sarah with wine and of course she agreed to do it with me 🤣🤣🥂🥂

We haven’t done any training yet, although I am doing squats when I boil the kettle…which basically means, we’ll be fine 😳

Hopefully the universe will step in at some point soon and help us!!

We would appreciate any donations, no matter how small. LOROS really do do an amazing job and are very much needed in our community ❤️❤️

Below is the ‘official’ information from the team at LOROS about what we will be doing:

Beginning in the town of Llanberis, in the heart of Eryri National Park, I’ll take on this unforgettable challenge alongside fellow LOROS supporters, trekking to the summit of Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) — at night.

Standing at 1,085 metres, Snowdon is the highest mountain in England and Wales — and under the cover of darkness, it becomes an even greater test of my endurance, determination and teamwork. Guided by the beam of my headtorch and the encouragement of those around me, I’ll push myself physically and mentally to reach the summit beneath the star-filled skies.

Taking on the Snowdon at Night challenge is my opportunity to conquer this magnificent peak in a truly unique and unforgettable way. I’ll trek alongside fellow fundraisers united for LOROS Hospice, supported every step of the way by experienced mountain leaders. It’s a powerful challenge, an incredible experience — a chance to make every step count for local families supported by LOROS.
