The TCS London Marathon is one of the world’s most iconic events. The 26.2‑mile route takes in historic landmarks and unforgettable crowds. For 2027. “the Double” is taking place on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 April.

Story

Just before Christmas 2024, our family experienced a heartbreaking loss with the passing of Mark’s mum, Julie. It was an incredibly difficult time for all of us, especially for Mark’s dad, Steven Lowe.

In the months that followed, Steven found strength and purpose through fundraising for Beaumond House Hospice Care—a charity that means so much to our family. Watching how much it helped him through such a difficult time inspired us to support the charity in our own way by taking on the challenge of running the London Marathon together.

Beaumond House also holds a special place in our hearts for another reason. Over 30 years ago, when my grandad was diagnosed with cancer, they were there to support our family through one of the most difficult times in our lives. Their kindness, compassion and care left a lasting impression, and today they continue to provide that same incredible support to families across Newark and the surrounding area.

Running the London Marathon together is so much more than a personal challenge. It is our opportunity to honour Julie’s memory, support Steven’s incredible fundraising efforts, and give something back to a charity that has cared for both of our families during life’s most difficult moments.

We are truly honoured to have the opportunity to run one of the world’s most iconic marathons while raising money for a cause that means so much to us. Every mile we run will be for the families who rely on Beaumond House and for everyone who has experienced the comfort, dignity and compassion they provide.

Beaumond House supports people in their final days with dignity, comfort and love, while also offering invaluable support to their families. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will make a real difference and help ensure they can continue providing this incredible care.

If you’re able to support us on this journey, we would be incredibly grateful. Together, we hope to raise as much as possible for this amazing charity and make every mile count.

Thank you so much for your kindness, generosity and support.
