We’re The Pituitary Foundation. We’re a dedicated team offering practical, emotional and peer support to everyone living with or impacted by a pituitary condition, to feel empowered and live with a greater sense of wellbeing.

Story

In 2025, our lives were turned upside down.

After months of unexplained illness, when our son was just 10 months old, Emma was diagnosed with a Pituitary Macroadenoma - a large tumour on the pituitary gland in the brain. Until that moment, we didn’t even know what the pituitary gland was, let alone how vital it is to the body’s everyday function. Suddenly hearing the words “brain tumour” was terrifying, and the uncertainty that followed was overwhelming.

Like so many families in this position, we knew nothing about pituitary conditions. The NHS were incredible in helping us understand the diagnosis and guiding us through treatment, but it was The Pituitary Foundation that helped us make sense of what Emma was facing - not just medically, but emotionally and practically too. Their clear information, reassurance and support helped us come to terms with a situation that felt impossible to navigate.

Emma has since undergone surgery to remove the tumour. While we hoped that would be the end of the journey, recovery has proved far more complex than we expected. Ongoing hormone imbalances and secondary conditions are now becoming clear, and once again, The Pituitary Foundation has been there to provide clarity, education and support when everything feels uncertain.

Throughout all of this, Emma has shown a strength and resilience that continues to amaze me. Facing surgery, uncertainty and ongoing complications with quiet determination, she has carried herself with a courage I can’t properly put into words. Watching her navigate this has been both humbling and inspiring. She is my inspiration.

It’s been over 10 years since I last took on a running challenge or raised money like this. Life has a way of quietly shifting priorities, and physical challenges fall away without you really noticing. But the last year has been a stark reminder of how fragile things can be - and how much strength is sometimes required just to keep moving forward. Taking on the London Landmarks Half Marathon 2026 feels like the right time (albeit in only 10 weeks!) to test myself again, to do something deliberately hard, and to turn that effort into something positive for others.

Every mile I run is for Emma, for our family, and for everyone facing a pituitary diagnosis without knowing what comes next.

If you’re able to donate, you’ll be helping The Pituitary Foundation continue their vital work - giving people understanding, reassurance and hope when they need it most.

Thank you so much for your support 💙
