Story
After giving birth to my little girl in September 2022 we were told she had a heart condition that may require treatment. Fast forward to November 2022 and open heart surgery was confirmed as that treatment. Obviously we were devestated and terrified as we waited for the date to be set but we recieved excellent support from the Freeman Hospital every step of the way. Drew had her surgery on 03 February 2023 and we could not fault the support and care we all recieved during her 6 days in hospital, which also included meal vouchers and water bottles as I was breastfeeding. We would therefore love to give back to the Freeman Hospital and to CHUF for making a very scary situation feel more bearable.
Chuf's mission is to make life better for children and young people who are born with or who develop heart conditions by providing lifelong support to them and their families. Chuf supports children and families who receive treatment at the Children’s Heart Unit based at the Freeman Hospital and the many other hospitals providing care for cardiac patients throughout the North of England.
