Tallulah’s boxing challenge - In memory of Gramoo (Jan Newton)

Tallulah is bravely (foolishly) taking part in a gruelling boxing challenge to continue to raise money for Sepsis UK in memory of her Gramoo.
After 8 weeks intense training she will get in the boxing ring against an unknown opponent for 3 rounds 🙈
Jan wouldn’t have watched and would have told Tallulah she didn’t want her to do it…. But she would also have been incredibly proud as always.
Please take the time to read about the inspiration behind the challenge…. Gramoo.
Jan was 65. She sadly leaves behind her devoted husband Martin, her 4 children and their partners and her most treasured possessions, her 13 grandchildren (Charlotte, Harry, Maisy, Matilda, Tabitha, Tallulah, Eli, Florence, Louie, Edie, Winnie, Bruce and Wilbur) and 2 great grandchildren (Reggie and Elsie). Jan loved nothing more than to get all of her family together in celebration and provided a home filled with joy. Anything she did, she made it special with an extra sparkle of joy and the world will certainly have lost some sparkle without her.
She had worked tirelessly for the NHS at Mid Yorkshire Hospitals for over 25 years. She was incredibly proud to have been a nurse and was well respected by colleagues. Known for her kindness and compassion, always prioritising the patient and her no nonsense attitude to getting the job done. The majority of her career in ICU and the latter years as Matron at pinderfields Hospital. Jan was looking forward to a well earned retirement including worldwide travel and time spent with precious family.
Many of Jan’s colleagues were inspired by her approach and remember her for the support she offered in all aspects of their life. Many of whom saw her as a friend, some her closest friends.
On 19th March 2024 the centre of our whole world sadly died after a what can only be described as valiant battle to stay.
The onset and progression of her illness was incredibly rapid. Within 12 hours of the onset of symptoms she required intensive care support and after bravely fighting the impact for 5 weeks Jan devastatingly died from multi- organ failure caused by sepsis.
Sepsis UK works to identify sepsis at the earliest opportunity and treatments to prevent the devastating impact it can cause.
