Story
Walking As One on June 20th for the Ruth Strauss Foundation
Every year, over 46,000 children in the UK experience the loss of a parent. It happened to me at age 15, and my young niece and nephew lost their mother to cancer just last year.
As some of you will know, I have recently completed 18 months of treatment for breast cancer. During that time, I’ve come to deeply understand and appreciate the importance of support, resilience and community on the cancer journey, whatever the outcome.
On June 20th, I’ll be taking part in Walk As One to raise funds for the Ruth Strauss Foundation, a charity that supports families facing the loss of a parent following an incurable cancer diagnosis.
While my colleagues are taking on the half-marathon, I’ll be walking a quarter-marathon - a distance that reflects where I am in my recovery. I may not be 100% yet, but I’m walking with 100% determination!
I’m notoriously bad at asking for help, but I would be so grateful if you would consider making a small donation to my JustGiving page. Every bit helps me reach my goal and helps families get the bereavement support they need.
Many thanks in advance for your support!
