Story
Hope Against Cancer funds vital research into cancer detection and treatment, from their base at Leicester Royal Infirmary.
In August, I will be cycling one hundred and twenty five miles to the Norfolk coast to raise funds for their incredible work.
Thanks to generous donors from across the county and beyond, top scientists are investigating personalised treatment for Triple Negative Breast Cancer.
The standard treatment for this cancer type is chemotherapy but this is changing as a range of new drug and immunotherapies enter the field. However, with new treatment options come increasingly complex treatment decisions.
This research will use the latest DNA sequencing technology to help researchers understand the differences between individuals and potentially allow doctors to make more informed and therefore more effective treatment decisions.
This study will be of life changing benefit to people like Alice Greaves, who at just 24 years old was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer, which has now spread to her lungs and brain.
Thanks to her treatment so far, she will be leading the ride to Sherringham, to support the important work of Hope Against Cancer.
