Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

Thanks for visiting my page.

I’m raising money for the British Heart Foundation and I’d be so grateful for your support.

On September 18, 2025, our world stopped.

My mum was rushed to the hospital with what everyone assumed was a massive heart attack. But the reality was something far more complex: Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy. In my mums case, it was proven to be stress-induced—a vivid, terrifying example of how the mind and body are inextricably linked.

Stress isn't just "in your head." For my mum, it was a physical surge that "stunned" her heart into severe failure. Mum spent two weeks in the High Dependency Unit, watching her ejection fraction (the heart’s pumping power) plummet to just 28%.

The Mystery of the "Stunned" Heart.

I am raising money for the British Heart Foundation because Takotsubo survivors are often left in a "grey area" of medicine. They face three major challenges:

* A Hidden History: While standard heart attacks involve blocked arteries, Takotsubo is different. Because it was only widely recognized outside of Japan in the early 2000s, we are still playing catch-up.

* The Funding Gap: It is a relatively rare diagnosis—affecting only 2–5% of patients presenting with heart attack symptoms. Because it isn't as "common," it often lacks the research priority it desperately needs.

* Cracking the Code: We need to understand the physiopathology—the exact mechanism of how stress hormones can physically damage heart tissue—before we can find a definitive cure.

Why Your Donation Matters

Research is moving forward, but it needs a push. We are finally seeing trials for medications to prevent repeat episodes, but we need more:

* Recognition of Stress: More research into how extreme emotional or physical stress triggers this specific collapse.

* Long-Term Care: Better acknowledgment of the long-term exhaustion and complications that follow a 28% ejection fraction.

Help Us Fund the Future

September 18th will always be the day my mums heart broke, but with your help, we can fund the science that helps put hearts back together.

Every pound donated to the BHF helps ensure that when stress hits its breaking point, the medical world has the answers ready.

Thank you for your incredible support.
