Florentina was born in May 2017, a beautiful, funny and enchanting little girl. On her 4th birthday she was diagnosed with High Risk Neuroblastoma and courageously spent many times in hospital over the next 3 and a half years recieving surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy and even CarT cell therapies.

She had a love of ponies and her energy and smile were infectious. Her years were filled with lots of adventures and happy memories despite the rigourous treatments she battled through. Florentina died peacefully at home in November 2024 and her family and friends created the Florentina's Footsteps Foundation.

This is a charity created in her memory, taking the experience of Florentina and her family of the little things that meant alot when they were in hospital. The charity was set up to help make a difference to sick children on hospital wards in and around Essex. The charity supports families in hospital by providing pizza drops, snacks, toiletries, play sessions and making hospital stays a little more pleasant.

Both Claudia and Jess have known Florentinas family for over 20 years and so have chosen this charity without hesitation to support the ongoing amazing difference that Florentina is bringing to other children and families

So why man versus horse? Well who doesn't love a bit of competition least with your partner!

The man versus horse race is based in Wales a 32km race across the harshest of footpaths, rivers, ravines and mountains. You have just 6 hours to complete it across over 4500 ft of elevation. There are around 1200 runners either individuals or running in teams with around 60 horse riders. Who will be the winner this year Man or Horse?

Claudia and Jess have been friends for over 30 years. As children they rode the Brecon Beacons on their trusty ponies, with endless adventures, a few mishaps and a whole world of stories. However neither has ever competed their horses in an endurance race, especially not of this calibre with rocky ravines, 4500ft decents and a gruelling 32 kilometre race route. Amaretta is a polo pony, having represented GB for Horseball but is petrified of water and gets incredibly over excited in large groups. Will she tackle the river crossings when she barely will step in a puddle! Rupert is a well bred showjumper having lived in Dubai, Denmark and the UK he is a well travelled soul but not without his comforts. Hes a huge 17.2 hands and trips over leaves, so how will he tackle the mountains!

The boys? Well Lee has completed the Marathon Des Sables a 250km race across the desert, and a retired veteran there is not much he cant overcome. But this is probably his biggest challenge to date ...Will he beat his partner on her pony!

There isnt many ultramarathons or extreme adventures Lewis has not run. He is fast, pretty good be it sand or jungle but will this be enough to tackle his wife Claudia who A. is not very good at losing. B will do anything to get in front and beat Lewis and C. has actually previously completed extreme horse races across Mongolia such as the infamous Derby!

The race is on. Its looking quite good for the boys with their wealth of ultramarathon experience BUT anyone who knows these girls with a bond since childhood will know there is very few chances on this planet they will let those boys win!
