Story
On the 20th August 2026, I will be participating in the Great Norse Run across Iceland. This is a multi-day endurance event where Iāll be running 9 marathons over 10 days covering the length of Iceland to raise awareness and funds for the Brain Tumour Research Charity. My target is to raise Ā£4,000 to help fund the fight against brain tumours.
At 14 years old and during the COVID-19 pandemic our family friend Indi was diagnosed with Grade 4 Glioblastoma brain cancer. What started as severe headaches quickly led to her being rushed into hospital. Indi underwent two 10 hour brain surgeries in the space of six months, spent time in the PICU Unit and then further time on a childrenās cancer ward learning to gain control over her motor skills, and walk again! She also lost some peripheral vision. Over the last few years she has undergone hundreds of laboratory tests and multiple MRIās, daily radiation for 6 weeks, several rounds of chemotherapy and an advanced T-cell trial in Washington DC. Today Indi is one of the extremely lucky ones and is currently in remission. She continues to fight every day for recognition and support of Brain Cancer Research. Without research and trials she wouldnāt be here!
One in three people in the UK knows someone affected by a brain tumour. This disease is indiscriminate, it can affect anyone at any age.
Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer, yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease since records began in 2002.
Brain Tumour Research is determined to change this. It is the only national charity focused on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours.
Together, we can make a difference. Your support will help propel vital research forward and bring hope to countless families affected by this illness. Join me in this journey; together we will find a cure.
