My name is Jhaymee from Critical Care Outreach Team. I am reaching out to share an important fundraising initiative aimed at enhancing the wellbeing of our patients, their families/ relatives and member of staff through the Development of a Critical Care Balcony.

I have committed to participating in an abseiling challenge to support the construction of this important balcony.

With my years of experience in critical care, I have witnessed firsthand the various challenges patients encounter during prolonged stays in intensive care units. These challenges often lead to disorientation, as patients lose track of time and miss the opportunity to experience the outdoors, see sunlight, the sky, breath fresh air and the comforting presence of their loved ones.

The proposed balcony will provide patients with the opportunity to step outside, even if only for a brief moment, allowing them to inhale fresh air and reconnect with the outside world. This seemingly minor addition could significantly improve their emotional and mental wellbeing by fostering connections with family and friends during their recovery.

Moreover, this space will also serve as a rejuvenating retreat for us as member of staff, providing a place to take breaks while enjoying a pleasant view and fresh air. This brief respite will help us recharge before returning to our crucial roles in delivering quality care to our patients.
