Fundraising Campaign

The Olive Branch has been offering affordable, professional counselling to adults in Winchester and the surrounding areas since 1997. We have one of the largest number of volunteer counsellors in the area, and are one of the few organisations in the UK to offer long-term therapy.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!

Charlotte is 10 years old and has been crafting bespoke miniature notebooks as a token of gratitude for each donation made towards The Olive Branch Counselling Service. However, her notebook project can only continue until we reach our target of £250, after which, unfortunately, no more notebooks can be made.

Regardless, we encourage you to continue helping us make a difference. Whether it's by spreading the word about The Olive Branch or making a donation, your support is invaluable and highly appreciated! Can you help by making a donation today? Thank you for your kindness and generosity.

“The Olive Branch Counselling Service (reg charity 1140475) is based in Winchester, serving the community of Hampshire. Our mission is to offer professional and affordable counselling to adults experiencing mental health issues or diagnosed with mental health disorders. Our beneficiaries have gone through a range of difficult experiences such as bereavement, relationship breakdown, isolation and illness.

Our beneficiaries have multiple levels of disadvantage. Some are unemployed, in poor housing and have experienced relationship stress, loss or anxiety. Others have endured abuse and physical ill-health. On average 50% are referred to us by medical services, 15% by mental health services and 35% are self-referrals. Many will have weekly 50-minute counselling sessions x 20 over 4-6 months (some require fewer sessions, others up to a year). Our counsellors will build a relationship with them, unpick the underlying reasons for their issues and look at care strategies and coping mechanisms. This will help them to encourage change, improve their self-esteem and ongoing wellbeing. Since 2017 we have supported 1,605 clients. 54% had experienced anxiety or depression, rising to 80% in 2019. 99% said counselling positively impacted their life.”
